January is an exciting month because not only is it the start of a New Year, but it's also the time when many of the long-awaited anime are released. This month, we bring to you the news of January 2024 anime releases, manga and game updates, and anime events you want to experience. So, without further ado, let’s begin!

Anime Releases January 2024

The most amazing news for Solo Leveling fans is that their years of waiting will finally end because, after a delay, the Solo Leveling anime television series is releasing on January 7 and will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll from January 6 onwards worldwide. The director for this action series is Shunsuke Nakashige, and the animation studio is A-1 Pictures, which definitely means this series will be worth the wait.

There is big news for One Piece fans as the anime will enter Egg Head Arc on January 7. The announcement was made on the official One Piece YouTube channel. Egg Head Arc is true to the manga, and this arc is still ongoing in the official manga, which started after the Wano Arc. The Egg Head Arc is set on the island of the infamous scientist Dr. Vegapunk.

After a successful first season, anime Mashle and Muscles produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Tomoya Tanaka is returning for a second season on January 2.

The manga Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi), written by Ryōko Kui, will have its anime adaptation by Studio Trigger streamed on Netflix on January 4, 2022 worldwide.

The anime adaptation of the fantasy romance manga series, The Demon Prince of Momochi House, written by Aya Shouoto, will be released on January 5. The series is directed by Bob Shirahata, produced by Studio Drive, and licensed by Crunchyroll.

After a long wait of six years, Blue Exorcist season 3, with the title Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, is finally being released on January 7. Its adaption in charge is Studio VOLN, and the director is Daisuke Yoshida.

The Villainness Level 99 light novel is having an anime adaptation by Studio Jumondou, which will be released on January 9.

The Sasaki and Peep novels by writer Buncololi are getting an anime adaptation on January 5. The director of the series is Mirai Minato, and Studio is Silver Link

Anime adaptation of the manga Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! will be released on January 9. The series will stream on Crunchyroll and is produced by Studio Silver Link and Blade

The manga series Doctor Elise by author Yuin will be released as an anime television series on January 10, produced by studio Maho Film and licensed by Crunchyroll.

The poker-themed card anime, High Card’s second season will premiere in January 2024

The romantic fantasy manga series Tales of Wedding Rings will have an anime adaptation by studio Staple Entertainment, releasing on January 6.

Manga A Sign of Affection by Suu Morishita is getting an anime adaptation on January 6

The popular manga series by Yasuhisa Hara, Kingdom, is getting its fifth season on January 6 and will be streamed on Crunchyroll.

It was announced on the official website that the original anime series Monthly Mōsō Science will be released on January 11

After quite some time, a new magical girl series titled Gushing Over Magical Girls by author Akihiro Ononaka will finally be released on January 3, 2024. Its directed by Masato Suzuki Atsushi Ōtsuki and produced by Asahi Production.

The Fantasy Light novel and manga The Strongest Tank's Labyrinth Raids by Ryūta Kijima will have its anime television series premiered on January 7; the production is by Studio Polon.

The sequel of the adventure T.V. series Shaman King, titled Shaman King: Flowers, will be released on January 10. It's directed by Takeshi Furuta and produced by Studio Bridge

The second cour of the anime Synduality: Noir will be airing in January 2024. In the anime, the game is set in the year 2222 instead of 2242, like in the anime. The series director is Yusuke Yamamoto, the producer is Bandai Namco Filmworks, and the animators are Eight Bit.

The original net animation titled Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation of Eiichiro Oda’s one-shot manga, Monsters, will premiere in January 2024. The series’ director is Sunghoo Park, and its studio is E&H Production.

The light novel series Ishura by Keiso will have its anime adaptation released on January 3, directed by Takeo Takahashi and Yuki Ogawa and produced by Passione and Sanzigen.

The dark fantasy anime Chain Soldier, based on the manga of the same name by Takahiro, is going to be released on January 4.

The Thriller anime The Witch and the Beast is set to release on January 12. The series is directed by Takayuki Hamana and produced by Yokohoma Animation and Laboratory.

The second season of fantasy anime, The Fire Hunter will premiere on January 14.

No longer wait for Urusei Yatsura fans because the second half of the new Urusei Yatsura anime will premiere in January 2024

A new original mecha anime, Bang Brave Bang Bravern, directed by Masami Ōbari and produced by CygamesPictures, will be released on January 11.

Romcom anime Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki 2nd Stage, directed by Shinsuke Yanagi and produced by studio Project No.9, will debut on January 3.

Prepare yourself for lots of laughter because the hilarious comedy manga Mr. Villain's Day Off by Yuu Morikawa's anime television series is releasing on January 8

The anime television series Banished From The Heroes' Party, based on the manga written by Zappon, will have its second season premiere in January 2024.

Boys love manga, Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!, written by

Yuu Toyota, is an anime television series that will be released on January 11.

Prepare yourself, lovers of animals and isekai, because the anime Fluffy Paradise, directed by Jun'ichi Kitamura and produced by EMT Squared, is releasing on January 7 and will be streamed on Crunchyroll.

Fantasy comedy manga 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess, written by Robinson Haruhara, is releasing on January 9. The director in charge of it is Yōko Kanemori, and the producer is studio Pine Jam

The second season of Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy, based on the novel series of Kei Azumi, will be released on January 8. The animation will be carried out by J.C. staff, and the season will air for two consecutive cours.

On January 13, the new anime series Bucchigiri?! will release, and fans are very excited about this since the series' animation studio is MAPPA and the director is Hiroko Utsumi, who’s worked for Banana Fish.

The exciting Isekai-adventure novel series My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered by Tsuyoshi Fujitaka will have its anime adaptation released on January 5. The series is produced by the studio Okuruto Noboru and directed by Masakazu Hishida.

The anime adaptation of the novel and manga series The Unwanted Undead Adventurer by Yū Okano will have its first episode aired on January 8, with its director Noriaki Akitaya and Studio Connect as the producer.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Studio Bones is producing a new original anime television series, Metallic Rogue, which will released on January 11. Motonobu Hori directs the series and will be streaming on Crunchyroll.

The Chained Soldier manga, written by Takahiro, will have its anime adaptation released on January 4. The series is directed by Junji Nishimura (chief) and Gorō Kuji, while its producer is studio Seven Arcs.

The manga Uka Uka's 'Hari Maware! Koinu will be having a short anime adaptation comprising four-minute shorts released in January.

Amazing news for horror fans as Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories Anime will be having its 12th season released in January, with the new season’s main concept being "rules."

Anime Films Updates

January will be a wonderful month for Mobile Suit Gundam fans as the Gundam Seed Special Edition compilation films will be airing on T.V. this month at BS12 TwellV's Sunday Anime Theater time slot. These films are part of a project to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam: SEED series. The movie consists of high-definition remastered editions of the entire 48 episodes from the original series, divided into three segments. The first part airs on January 14, the second on 21st January and the third on 28th January.

North Americans can now enjoy films screening of Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood's End-– and Gurren Lagann the Movie – The Lights in the Sky Are Stars on theatres in January. The

former will air on January 16, while the latter will air on 23rd and 24th January in 4K and 4D, available in sub and dub.

Polygon Pictures’ original anime film, Bloody Escape -Jigoku no Tōsōgeki, will be released in Japan in January 2024 and will be available on Crunchyroll. This announcement was made on the official website of Bloody Escape Film. The writers of the film are Goro Taniguchi and Shingo Nagai, and Goro Taniguchi (One Piece) is also the director.

A compilation film of the trilogy films of Kizumonogatari titled Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp will be released on January 12. The original three-part anime will be re-edited to be made into one movie. Kizumonogatari anime is based on the light novel series written by NisiOisin, which is the third volume in the Monogatari series and serves as a prequel to Bakemonogatari.

The anime film Blue Giant, based on the award-winning manga of the same name, will air in selected cinemas in the U.K. and Ireland on January 31. This touching Seinen film is directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and produced by studio NUT.

Suzume made it big again, as it has been nominated for the Best Animated Feature award for the Golden Globes Awards, which is to be held on January 7, 2024; this nomination is also a huge achievement for the writer/director of the film Makoto Shinkai as this is his first Golden Globe nomination.

Live Action Series/Films and Stage Plays 2024

The slice-of-life manga series Living-Room Matsunaga-san by Keiko Iwashita has a live-action series releasing this January. The directors of this series are Junichi Kanai, Ken Higurashi, and Takeshi Matsukawa, and the film will premiere on Kantele and Fuji Television's "Tuesday DramaEleven" programming block.

Live-Action film titled Let's Go Karaoke! based on the comedy manga of the same name by Yama Wayama will release in January 2024. However, it was previously supposed to be released in 2023.

Spy Classroom Light Novel by Takemachi is a stage play that will have 13 performances from 20th-28th January in Ginza Hakuhinkan Theater in Tokyo. The director of this play is Satoshi Oogita, and Yui Yokoyama will be playing Lily's role.

The BLUELOCK soccer manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro is having a second stage play from 18th-24th January in Kyoto Theater and 25th-31st in Hulic Hall Tokyo. The director for the space is Naohiro Ise, and Ryōhei Takenaka will play the role of Yoichi Isagi.

Manga Updates

According to the January 2024 issue of Futabasha's Jour magazine, Eri Sakai, the writer of the manga He's Expecting, will be launching a new manga series on January 4 titled Shōsansei no nai Nigorikawa or Unproductive Nigorikawa in the next magazine’s issue.

Masanori Morita's suspense horror manga, Zashisu, went on hiatus in September 2023 and will now be returning this January.

Games Updates

It was a bummer when the Macross: Shooting Insight Game by Bushiroad Games was delayed from its original launch in 2023, but the good news is that the game will finally be released on January 25, 2024. It will be released worldwide for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and P.C. through Stream.

In order to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the worldwide release of its Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team mobile simulation game, KLab Inc has started a special celebratory campaign called Worldwide Release 6th Anniversary: Gifts for All, which is running from Friday, December 1 16:00 until Friday, January 5, 2024, 13:59 (JST/UTC+9). While many events have already taken place, there are still chances to win some awesome prizes in the event’s last five days of this month.

Anime Events January 202

Animela, the biggest event ever for all fans, is India as India's First International Animation, Visual Effects, Gamin,g, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) festival. This will be conducted for four days from 18th to 24th January in Mumbai. The founders behind this amazing event are Aniverse & Visual Arts Foundation (AVAF). There will be many activities at this event, including film screenings, VFX-making comic book/graphic novel creators, knowledge-intensive sessions such as masterclasses, and special experiences zones comprising arcades, meet and greets, etc.
